About Me
My name is Anthony W. Nguyen, born in 1988 to Vietnamese immigrant parents who instilled in me a deep appreciation for culture, tradition, and the beauty found in simplicity. Despite pursuing a career as a software engineer to support myself and my family, art has always been the beating heart of my existence. It is not just a hobby; it is a profound expression of my innermost thoughts and feelings, a never-ending journey that defines me.
I am drawn to conceptualize narrative paintings that capture the essence of life as we know it, focusing on slices of everyday life, cultural traditions, and even fantastical scenarios rooted in reality. My fascination lies in depicting young individuals adorned in futuristic attire within primitive settings—a juxtaposition that challenges the conventional boundaries of time and place.

These images are not mere creations; they are a reflection of my desire to connect with the universal human experience. They represent children living beyond the confines of our current era, yet trapped in the immediacy of the present moment. Through my artwork, I aim to evoke a sense of tranquility and appreciation for the ordinary aspects of life that often go unnoticed.
My ultimate goal is to inspire viewers to find peace and joy in the simple pleasures of daily life, reminding them of the beauty that exists in the world around us. By blending elements of the past, present, and future, I seek to create works that resonate with audiences, encouraging them to reflect on their own lives and experiences.

Community & Cultural Work
As the son of Vietnamese immigrants, I believe storytelling is an important way to preserve history, identity, and cultural memory. In 2021, I participated in the Vietnamese Boat People's StorySlam, sharing my perspective as a second-generation Vietnamese American. I have also contributed artwork to Our Journeys: Stories of Survival and Resilience, a publication celebrating stories of survival, resilience, and hope from the Vietnamese diaspora.
These projects reflect my commitment to honoring the experiences of those who came before me and ensuring that their stories continue to inspire future generations.
